James Browning

Browning Oil Tools’ roots were established in 1960 when James Browning moved his young family to Natchez, Mississippi to sell pumps to the budding oilfield in the area. With help from friends, mentors, and customers, he was successful in parlaying his early sales experience into building a manufacturing company to provide oil tools for the local area. James’ energy and innovation lead to a patent of the modern latching on and off tool. Through his tenacity, the Browning Oil Tools name became synonymous with quality tools across the United States. The Browning legacy continues today under the leadership of James’ children. In 2025, full company ownership returned to Jim Browning and Barbara Browning Wilson. Their commitment and goals remain aligned with those of their dad: to provide value, quality, and innovation to our oilfield partners across North America.
